Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power perfection Bought this, it's perfect, quieter than my old gas one, and quite efficient. I have a weed trimmer, and leaf blower, love em all. Now waiting for info on the upcoming whisper 22" snowblower!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not even close to gas...try another brand I have given this mower two seasons. What I like os no gas, no engine maintenance, and very little noise. What I don't like. It does not cut well or even. Its kinda like using a weed Wacker to mow it leaves long uncut pieces. I think the blades don't spin fast enough at low speed to pull the grass up and cut it. When it senses it needs to speed the blades up it cuts much more even and consistently. Unfortunately there is no way to run it at the higher speed manually. I don't care if it goes through batteries faster...let me make that choice with a speed control. Second dislike is the self porpel adjustment. When you push the lever it should start moving...there is a big lag before it goes. Soft start is too soft. I find myself bumping it before it starts moving on its own. The throttle sucks completely....it is not linear at all....if you push it 25%, 50 or 75....it goes full speed....from full speed if you let off to 75% it stops.....makes me wonder if anyone in engineering used this mower before they started production....let's just get it out there and let the customer figure out the issues....then we will make a new model that fixes it...and sell them another one! It's now for sale and I'll go back to a gas mower that actually cuts the grass...Im angry I wasted my money on this one....hopefully no one looking at it sees this review

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still Running Strong I am back to update at the end of my 4th year with the Ryobi Crosscut 40 volt mower. Pretty boring review really since nothing has broken, fallen off or melted. Still using the same set of blades that came with it and still using the original batteries most of the time. Ryobi sent me 2 free 6ah batteries and I use them once in a while, but not often. Charger also still working fine and still only using 1 battery at a time on the mower, then dropping in the other when this one is depleted or with 1 bar left. Since I cut my lawn often, the motor does not have to rev-up, therefore they do not overheat. I also own the blower and trimmer. I think the trimmer would wear me out before the 4ah battery dies. The blower is another story. While it works good without using the turbo button, I always have to use it just because of the extra power. Using the turbo button causes a fast discharge which causes them to heat up so I cannot charge them right away. That being said and despite constant overheating and cooling down, battery still works fine and just as long as when I purchased the unit. Now they have the AWD Ryobi with other "goodies" added to the unit, but in my opinion, it is basically the same as my unit. If I had lots of hills I would definitely use the AWD. Turbo button is nice to have on demand as well, but again rapid discharge=heat= problems with charging of unit shutting down. Another thing I mentioned in my original post was the suction which I felt was lacking. After some research online I found that this is a common problem with most battery mowers and some gas mowers as well. That being said, if you have large leaves and not small leaves like I have (holly tree) it is not an issue. In summation I enjoy my Ryobi and it is a pleasure to walk behind and mows Texas St. Austine grass really well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre machine I bought this product July 2022 and had a great experience at first. However 1 year in, and the blades will not engage, although the LED headlight and the self-propel motor engages just fine. Called Ryobi and the only way to get this resolved would be to drive to New York to get it serviced. At 1 year, this is a ridiculous problem and with no service centers anywhere remotely close to me, it sucks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great mower until it failed. I purchased this mower three years ago. The cut is great. It is easy to use. Unfortunately, the drive mechanism broke two weeks ago and the repair shop has trouble getting parts. Repair shops for Ryobi are few and far between in SW Ohio. Up until it prematurely failed, I would have given the mover 5 stars.

The main issue I encountered was its inability to consistently cut all the blades of grass evenly. Despite its promises, I found patches of unevenly cut grass throughout my lawn, which was quite frustrating. I tried adjusting the cutting height and ensuring the blades were sharp, but the results remained inconsistent. It felt like a game of chance every time I mowed the lawn. Additionally, the mower's build quality left something to be desired; it felt a bit flimsy and not as durable as I had hoped. In the end, I can't overlook the fact that the primary purpose of a lawn mower is to provide an even, clean cut to the grass, which the Ryobi push mower struggled to achieve. This experience left me dissatisfied and looking for a more reliable option to keep my lawn looking its best.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! I bought this product a year ago (21 in. 40 volt brushless, self propelled, cross cut lawnmower). The first year it was okay, not terrific. This year it's terrible! I have a ½ acre lot. I had to purchase 2 extra batteries just to cut half of it in hot weather and still that means I must recharge 2 of the batteries. The hotter it is outside the faster the batteries are depleted. The batteries will not charge until they cool down. That can take 45 minutes to an hour. They are warm after they finish charging so now you get even less time from the charge. I have kept my batteries in the living area of my home, in a temperature controlled environment all year. This year, my son borrowed the mower to decide if he wanted purchase one. He has a very small lot. He told me he had to go over the grass in his yard a second time to get a good cut. I then took it and had the blades sharpened. It made no difference. I could hear the motor wind down over and over again. I had to re-cut my lawn a second time!!! I'm 69 years old!!!! Now I have to pay someone to cut my lawn. This defeats the purpose of me buying this lawnmower! Ryobi tells me to take it or ship it, at my expense, to their authorized service dealer. I have not done this yet. My thinking is while it is in for repair, and who knows how long that will take, I still have to pay someone to cut my lawn!!!! I would give this product and the company a negative rating if I could.
