Unexpected Satisfaction
I got this around a month and a half ago.
Was looking for a "light duty" extra string trimmer to supplement my gas powered trimmer.
This trimmer exceeded my expectations and just "burns" thru any weeds or grass needing trimming.
The battery life was much longer than expected.
I had anticipated that the reloading of the string would be hard, but it was far less complex than I expected.

All good except the handle
My old ryobi died but was very happy with it, so wanted a replacement.
My initial hesitation was that non of the 40v models have a pivot head which was great for trimming. But other than that, thought this was a good choice.
Have had less than a month and used 3 or 4 times. The handle never tightens and was constantly shifting and found I had to readjust every 10 minutes or so. And then, it just gave way and in completely loose.
Returning product to see what other options are available.

Melted RYOBI 40V trimmer
Great product. I purchased this after my original 40V trimmer ending up melting after using in the heat when using with RYOBI cultivator attachment. Waiting see if RYOBI will refund my purchase for the new trimmer.

I bought this in July and am not disappointed. It works great for trimming around trees and along flower beds, fences, and my retaining walls. The trimmer plus attachments that I have from my gas trimmer work with this trimmer too. I have used my pole saw attachment and am very pleased with the abilities of this trimmer. I have ordered the cultivator head and hope to be just as pleased. I like this trimmer so much that I have sold my gas trimmer as this trimmer is a great replacement.

Forget motorized weed trimmers
I replaced a 4 cycle weed trimmer with this 40V Ryobi unit. The 4AH Lithium battery has enough energy to trim weeds, edge 200 ft of driveway/sidewalk & blow it clean. I'm SOLD on battery powered trimmers.

Powerful trimmer
This trimmer has a lot of power. I have to be care with it because I can easily trim too much grass in one place if I don’t keep it moving. My previous Ryobi trimmer was one that turned so I could use it as an edger. I liked that one better but I couldn’t find one in. 40V option. This one works well enough but I will now have to get an edger to attach to it.

Its definitely as powerful as my gas trimmer. Its very easy to reline when you run out, takes a couple minutes total. The bump-feed gets jammed a lot, the line will get wedged in between line on the spool and will not feed out, i then have to take it apart and re-spool it. Using it along cracks in the asphalt, or along curbs the line doesn't last as long as i like, like its too soft, but using it along a fence it holds up fine. I have not used the fixed blades so not sure how those would hold up. I also haven't tried attaching any other tools too it. Overall Its really a great trimmer, i got it mostly so the wife could use it without worrying about fuel and such and its great for that.
