Multitasking and more Powerful
I've owned Ryobi lithium products since 2012. They have performed above and beyond in most cases. My previous string trimmer was the 24v version. Since Ryobi discontinued selling 24v products and batteries I needed to replace it with the 40v version. This version is a more powerful two string version with a longer lasting battery. However it does have some negatives. The motor although more powerful has been moved to the opposite end next to the battery. This makes it more difficult to use because it's heavier and somewhat unbalanced than the 24v version. It's also noiser then the 24v version. The good part is the 40v string trimmers upper portion can be multitasking and used with other useful attachments. The product is quality manufactured and should last for years in normal use.

good but could be improved drastically
Just used it for the first time. The handle is really annoying, if you need to do edging you can flip it but it doesn't lock into different modes. Cheaper models do this easily. Also the connection between the two rods is right where I'd like to have the handle but the handle wont fit over it.

Awesome Trimer
Got this as a gift from my wife and it's awesome Trimmer. Use to have a gas and my wife told me that she got tired of seeing me struggling pulling the cord and didn't turn on. She told me that I waisted more time trying to turn on the trimmer. So on my birthday she surprised me with this awesome Trimmer no more struggling.

Good design. Defective electrical trimmer
Bought 40 volt trimmer. Used it once. Very happy with it. I went to use a week later. Electric motor starts and turns a couple times. Then will not operate. Battery works in my other tools. Trimmer is defective.

Great Trimmer
I had a smaller 18V trimmer that was ok, but this one is much better. I can trim my whole yard and use the same battery in my blower twice before recharging.

POOR Design
Grass shield broke day one! Not the shield itself but the little L shaped piece that's supposed to cut the line as it feeds out to a certain length. Auto-feed is also flawed and it's especially bad now that the line feed cutoff piece within the shield is gone. So at each click of the starter it just feeds too much line out and it's too long/coiling over. I jave to stop and correct the spool WAY TOO OFTEN!
Also using the foot lever to change from trimming to edging is cumbersome and finnicky to say the least. Please make a bump and feed search subcategory on your site bc with the spool and shield line piece breaking issue I'm liking switching to bump/feed and would like to find those without having to click on each trimmer/edger
